Around the word with Pamela Anderson (The UK)
by Paul Scarth
In the UK people tend to have higher opinions of people more successful than themselves, no more so than somebody as unique as Pamela Anderson. Most people will brand her somewhat of a blonde bimbo and criticize her marriage to Tommy Lee, whilst others would die for her curvaceous figure and stunning looks.
There's has to be no arguing that Pamela has to be one of the biggest role models of the 90's. A blonde bombshell who's took not just the UK, but the whole world by storm.
In the UK you can guarantee wherever you look you're guaranteed to find some resemblance to Pamela. If she's not plastered all over the British tabloid she's gracing covers of some of the UK's top magazines. There's no doubt, if you want to sell magazine's and newspapers here in the UK Pamela Anderson has to be a sure bet.
Whilst utilizing Pamela's popularity the UK tabloids, they are also well known for giving Pamela a bad name and creating stories that are far from the truth. But whilst this is going on they're also making Pamela one of the most popular and talked about figure in the world.
It could easily be argued that Pamela is somewhat more famous here in the UK than what she is over in the states. Why this is nobody really knows. Maybe it's because Baywatch at the time was given one of the best prime-time slots on TV, launching Pamela's popularity in the UK to great heights. Or maybe it's because Baywatch was something completely new and far from the type of UK programming we were used to at the time.
To quote 'FHM (For Him Magazine)':
"The cause of more Saturday afternoon wrist action than the invention of
the frisbee, Pam needs no introduction."
One of the sadist stories from the UK tabloids has to be that of little Prince William. The 13 year old has Pamela plastered across the walls of his room at his Eton school, but decided he wanted to see her in the flesh. His Mother Princess Diana refused to give him his thrill and instead arranged him to have lunch with US catwalk queen Cindy Crawford.
But Cindy bored Prince William after just 10 minutes. A courtier was believed to have said "Sadly the meeting was not a success. The conversation was very stilted."
Now the Prince is again demanding to see Pamela at the Palace by Royal appointment.
Pam was to have said "I've heard that Prince William has asked Princess Di if she could set up a lunch with me. "It appears the date isn't going to happen because she told him 'No Way!' "Apparently she thinks that I would be a very bad influence on the young Prince. "I'm disappointed that I won't have the chance to meet William or Dianna - I'm a big fan of HERS and would have gone to the palace like a shot."
The Princess is said to be concerned about Pam's outrageous antics with wild man rocker Tommy Lee.
In the mean time poor Prince William has to make do with seeing Pamela's new movie Barb Wire.
Now what's the saying ? 'Poor little spoilt child maybe' ?
