After an annus horriblis, as the queen would
say, Pamela Anderson Lee is once again taking care of business. The former Baywatch babe packed 'em in on Wednesday during a planned media event at the Television
Critics Association gathering in Pasadena. Lee was on hand to promote her
upcoming new weekly syndicated actioner, V.I.P.
According to Variety, the assembled group of TV professionals just
couldn't contain themselves when the show's exec producer gushed that there was
"something springing out" about Lee's talent when she first caught the
viewer's eye as Tim's Tool Time girl on Home Improvement. How
observant.
Lee, who in the past year has seen her husband go to jail for abusing her and
has unsuccessfully fought a legal battle to keep a video of them getting
personal off the Internet, says she's really "just a down-to-earth, mellow
kind of girl." But, she adds, "I'll probably always be in some kind of
trouble, and I've accepted that."
She's also accepted that she's going to remain a Lee. Pam told reporters that
a divorce from Tommy is pending, but she's decided to keep the Mötley Crüe
drummer's name "because my kids are named Lee, and I want to keep the same
name as my kids." Anderson Lee adds that she doesn't "regret anything
that happened because I learned a lot. My husband has definitely learned a lot.
It's all going to be good in the future."
Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg, in town to promote her syndicated revival of The
Hollywood Squares (she'll be filling the key center square), says she's
lined up such stars as Sharon Stone, Garth Brooks, Rosie O'Donnell, and Whitney
Houston to play along. The comedian says the show's writers will carefully
script one-liners, so "even the most dense of stars can come and play this
game."
And Roseanne, who's set to make her syndicated talk-show debut this fall,
says she's planning to be more reserved about her private life than she has been
in the past. And the slimmed down and unusually subdued star says that while
she'll discuss being a parent, she won't use specifics from her children's
lives. "I would never want to embarrass or invade my kids' privacy,"
she told the press. "They're big and can beat me up."
Both Whoopi and Roseanne debut on Sept. 14.
