Pamela Lee: "I'm Not a Pushover"

Pamela Anderson Lee was jubilant after a judge ruled in her favor in a $5 million breach-of-contract suit, saying that the victory proves to the movie industry that she's no "pushover." "I think it sends a strong message to other actors," the ex-Baywatch babe told reporters. "I've got a lot of really good feedback from other actors who are really happy with the verdict and feel a lot more protected." Lee's comments came a day after a judge decided that she did not bail out of the cable movie Hello, She Lied. Judge David Horowitz ruled that the Private Movie Co. failed to prove "by a preponderance of evidence" that Lee had entered into a binding contract to make the film, even though the producers claim she made an oral agreement to star in the film. Lee, who has dropped trou for Playboy on a number of occasions, said she dropped out of the project because she objected to the simulated-sex scenes in the film. "I don't feel comfortable with love-making scenes--but nudity was never an issue," she said on Wednesday. "I felt I was being manipulated; I felt I was being taken advantage of and did not want to settle this case [out of court]." Lee's lawyer says that he hopes his client's victory will help change the common Hollywood practice of closing a million-dollar deal with a verbal agreement or handshake. "She made a decision to fight for the truth," said attorney Henry Holmes. "The case has changed the movie industry--I hope for the good." The plaintiffs were obviously not as pleased with the outcome, and they vowed to appeal the judge's decision.
