HELSINKI, Finland -- Some 900 Finnish relatives of Baywatch TV star Pamela Anderson Lee would like her to come and visit.
The Canadian star, who was born in Ladysmith, B.C. on July 1, 1967, is related to all those Finns through her great-grandfather, who left Finland in 1908.
The spokesman for Anderson's relatives told Reuters that she had declined through her lawyer to take part in a 1995 family gathering. But the family would renew efforts to bring their voluptuous relative to the land of her ancestors.
"We will send her another invitation," said Vaino Rautiainen, an Anderson fan and chronicler of Anderson's Finnish clan.
Anderson's great-grandfather was born Juho Hyytiainen near the small town of Saarijarvi in lake-dotted central Finland, but changed his name after arriving in Canada as a 19-year-old immigrant.
"I guess he changed his name to Anderson because the locals could not pronounce Hyytiainen," said Terttu Suopellonmaki, another relative.
