lareve02.jpg (38330 bytes)The next day we spent the early morning relaxing poolside while waiting for the Lee's personal assistant, Jon Roberts, to return our call or better yet... for Tommy or Pamela to call us.

Once again... it was not to be. We were growing very frustrated. I mean, we'd traveled over 2000 miles! We were at least entitled to a phone call weren't we? As it turns out, Pamela was wrapping up the post production of Barb Wire in Santa Monica and Tommy was finishing up the new Crue album, Personality # 9. So, they couldn't be blamed.. we knew they might be too busy, it was a risk we took when we left Calgary.

So we called up Joe @ Baywatch instead! He asked us to come down and watch taping of Baywatch Nights. (Baywatch was in the off season.)

carwash.jpg (26467 bytes)We watched a little of the filming, met some of the staff and then hung out for a bit in Douglas Schwartz's office (another executive producer of Baywatch.. also a cousin of Michal Berk). The place was a shrine to the show, it was amazing! Pamela and Yasmine all over the place! When lunch came, there was a loud call over the in house p.a. system.. "Lunch is Ready". We went out back and had lunch with the cast and crew of Baywatch Nights. Anything you wanted, they had three chefs there ready to make it for you. Low fat turkey on whole wheat seemed to be popular so that was my choice. MMMmmmm tasty!!

After Baywatch, we headed down San Vicente Blvd. in search of a car wash. We needed to clean out the Forerunner pretty bad, it had become a trash bin for us up until then. We found this place called Apollo Car Wash. If you're ever in L.A., AVOID THIS PLACE!! They charged Mark $35.00 US for a car wash and wax, they broke his headlight covers and tried to hide it, and worst of all.. they quoted us the job would take 30 minutes maximum and it ended up taking over two hours!

I don't know if that's the way it works in L.A. or not... quote one thing, then overcharge and screw the guy! The owner said he "felt bad".. yeah right, probably an out of work actor going for an academy award! He offered us free coupons to use his car wash next time on him. Does this seem weird? The guy screwed us once, and now he wants us to come back!? Needless to say, we trashed the coupons.

Lifeguard painting in M. Berk's OfficeOver all, the trip was a heck of a lot of fun. It ended up costing a little better than $2000 US but it was well worth it. We made some good friends, had some great food and truly learned the Los Angeles is unlike any other city in the world.

I am heading back in July of 1996. Filming of Baywatch starts on the eighth in Santa Monica, I will be on the set for a couple of days.. interviewing the cast and laying the groundwork for future web sites. We're going to build a "Pamwatch" for every cast member. If you have any suggestions or ideas that you feel may help us, drop us an email!

Thanks,

Jay Irvine
